Metro Istambul – Üsküdar Ümraniye
The construction of the 16.9 km (10.5 mi) long line in the west-east direction with 16 stations between Üsküdar and Çekmeköy, and its connection line to the depot with 3 km (1.9 mi) length began on 20 March 2012. Projected to cost about €564 million, the line is built by the Doğuş Construction Group and was expected to open in September 2016.
The line is expected to extend to Sabiha Gökçen International Airport in the future.
Uskudar – Umraniye – Cekmekoy Metro Line” is a project of public transportation railway system connecting the municipality of Uskudar to the districts of Umraniye and Cekmekoy located in the eastern outskirt of Istanbul. The project includes the excavation of the main line 17.0km long by a twin single track tunnel, a total of 16 underground stations, depot site connection tunnel and depot site.
The tunnel alignment starts at Uskudar station, located in the proximity of Bosphorus. From the coast the tunnel develops toward East, running below a hilly relief, which corresponds to the maximum overburden (80.0m). The minimum overburden is limited to only 3m near Uskudar area, where ground treatments shall be likely required. The general overburden stays between 20-40m.
