The Thames Tideway Central Tunnel is the longer part of the Thames Tideway Tunnel Project that consist of the sewage water collection of London from Acton to Abbey Mills pumping Station.
The aim of this project is to alleviate flooding and tackle the tens of millions of tons of raw sewage which discharge into the River Thames every year.
The TTT Central will be bored with two EPB NFM machines of 8,84m diameter each one, from Kirtling Street Shaft to Chambers Wharf for the first machine and to Carnwarth Road Riverside for the second machine.
1st tunnel length is 5 km and 2nd tunnel length are 7,5 km.
During the excavation of both tunnels, we faced all different ground typologies in London like London clay, Lambeth, Harwich formation and Chalk.
TNL18 was in the Project leading the soil conditioning with 3 foaming agents like ACTISOYL 100, ACTISOYL 20W and ACTISOYL CC. It was necessary to use the pure polymer ACTI+ WW in some special areas where water ingress was high.
As well, TNL18 supplied tail seal grease ACTISEAL PS1 and hyperbaric additive ACTIEDGE.
