Metro Barcelona L9

The 12m EPB tunnel boring machine for the central section of metro line 9 in Barcelona was stopped for 11 years, but since last June 2022, it has been advancing to finish the tunnel of the central section of this infrastructure that will cross the upper part of Barcelona.

When TBM stopped more than a decade ago, 4.3 kilometers remained to be drilled between Zona Universitaria and Lesseps.

The terrain to be excavated is divided into granite and slate, both of which are very difficult and which require very special treatment in order to progress properly.

The technical service of TNL18 has been essential for the correct progress of the TBM.

For soil treatment, using foaming agents ACTISOYL 20W, ACTISOYL CC and ACTI+ WW polymer.

For tail sealing, ACTISEAL PS1 tail seal grease was used.

ACTISEAL MB mastic and GR4520 Ep2 grease have been used to protect the main bearing.
