Metro Copenhagen

Metro line 4 was built to increase the capacity of the subway of Copenhagen.

This extension of the Copenhagen metro consists of the realization of two tunnels of 4.4 km each, with 2 TBMs diameter 5.8 m with 5 underground station and two shafts with connections with the “Cityringen”.  The jobsite was realized by the JV Hochtief / Vinci

The excavation of the tunnels was performed working principally in the limestone.

In June 2020 the machines will faced a soil contaminated with old pollution.

The main problem of this pollution is the presence of Vinyl chloride, a gas highly volatile with a high toxicity for the human. During the excavations, this gas will be released in the tunnel creating potentially health problems on the workers.

TNL18 helped to minimize this problem covering of the muck on the conveyor belt with a layer of foam just after the screw discharge to limit the releasing of gas.

For this specific application, TNL18 also designed and built a specific equipment filling the jobsite requirements. 

Soil conditioning was done by TNL18 using the foaming agent ACTISOYL 100.

We also supplied the Ep2 GR4520 for main bearing lubrication and Hydraulic oil 972 BIO as well.

For bicomponent mortar, we supplied the component A, TNL A.
