Metro Catania

Catania metropolitan line is currently characterised by a total length of 8.8km, from Nesima to Stesicoro. 

The EPB TBM of 10,5m of diameter was working in different geologies like sands, gravels, etc…

The geotechnical and structural analysis of these civil works were complicated by the presence of a really challenging geological formation, characterised by the interaction between the shallow lava stone layer and the underlying sedimentary clay bed.

In this exciting context, TNL18 was required to provide the soil conditioning services, supplying the foaming agents ACTISOYL 100, ACTISOYL 20W The polymer ACTI+ WW was essential to advance properly through the rocks.

Regarding sealing, ACTISEAL PS1 tail seal grease was used.

During the execution of the Project, the permanent technical service offered by TNL18, as well as the hyperbaric solutions, were essential.
