The great infrastructure works that have been built in Latin America

With an extension of almost 23 kilometers, Line 1 of Metro Quito is one of the great infrastructure works that have been built in Latin America. 15 underground stations, 150 meters long, connect the city from south to north, from the Quitumbe sector to El Labrador.

Metro Quito tunnel was built with 3 EPB machines with a diameter of 9.37m. “La Guaragua”, “Luz de América” and “La Carolina”.

The tunnel boring machines executed a total of 19.2 km, while the rest of the line was built using conventional methods. The 3 TBMs completed the following sections: La Guaragua: El Labrador – La Alameda section (7.5 km); Luz de América: Solanda – La Alameda stretch (8.1 km) and Carolina: Solanda – Pozo extraction stretch between La Morán Valverde and Quitumbe (3.6 km).

TNL18 was involved with the soil treatment, using the foaming agent ACTISOYL 100.

For tail sealing, ACTISEAL PS2/PS1 and ACTISEAL 18 tail seal grease were used.

During the execution of the Project, the technical service offered by TNL18 was essential, as well as the logistical solutions to supply on time in Ecuador.
