Silvertown Tunnel project is a 1.4 km twin-tube (One tube in each direction) urban tunnel to be built under the Thames River. It follows a route parallel to the Emirates Air Line cable car and connects Silvertown and Greenwich. The project has been designed to relieve congestion around the Blackwall Tunnel, thereby improving the environment and providing better transport links to the east of the city.
A single tunnel boring machine (TBM) will be used to make the two tubes, with a diameter of approximately 12 m. The TBM will begin in Silvertown drilling the first tunnel, rotate through North Greenwich and then return to Silvertown to drill the second tunnel.
TNL18 participated in the Project with the soil treatment using the foaming agents ACTISOYL 20W and ACTISOYL CC.
In addition, ACTIEDGE hyperbaric cake additive was supplied.
